Swiss stations have no turnstiles, but SBB inspectors check tickets on every intercity train. Buy tickets or swipe 'EasyRide' inside the SBB Mobile app BEFORE stepping onto the train (boarding 10 seconds after departure triggers a CHF 90+ surcharge).
Overnight guests at hotels, hostels, and campsites receive a free digital Guest Card (Bern Ticket, BaselCard, Geneva Transport Card, Montreux Riviera Card, Lucerne Guest Card, or the canton-wide Ticino Ticket) covering local trams/buses from check-in day.
Yellow diamond signs mark easy walking paths (Wanderwege). White-Red-White painted blazes mark Mountain Trails (Bergwanderwege) requiring lugged hiking boots and sure-footedness. White-Blue-White marks technical Alpine Routes crossing glaciers or cables.
Almost all high-street shops and supermarkets close on Sundays and by 19:00–20:00 on weekdays. Need groceries on Sunday? SBB RailCity stations (Zürich HB, Bern, Geneva Airport, Basel SBB, Lucerne) keep Coop/Migros open until 21:00–22:00 365 days a year.

Service is legally included in Swiss menus. Round a CHF 46.50 bill to CHF 50 (or add 5–10% for attentive table service) by telling the server the total BEFORE they tap your card. Always select CHF (never USD/EUR/GBP) to avoid 4–7% DCC markups.
