How it works: pick a travel style and the calculator fills in typical per-day costs in Swiss Francs (CHF). Every figure is editable — replace them with real quotes as you plan. These are realistic ranges for 2026. See our Switzerland Trip Budget & Costs Guide for the reasoning behind the defaults.
What the styles assume
- Budget: Swiss Youth Hostels or alpine dorms, Coop/Migros supermarket picnics, free municipal guest transit cards, and valley hikes.
- Mid-range: 3-star hotels or Alpine chalets, a daily restaurant meal (fondue, rösti, or Zürcher Geschnetzeltes), Half Fare Card cableway tickets, and major sights.
- Luxury: 5-star Belle Époque palace hotels (Baur au Lac, Victoria-Jungfrau, Badrutt's Palace), First Class panoramic rail, fine dining, and private mountain guides.
Costs are higher during peak ski season (late December to February) and high summer (July–August) in Zurich, Zermatt, and St. Moritz.
